Tartar (Plaque) is the crust of bacteria that form a layer of colorless and sticky(sometimes hardened) that form between the teeth with gums meeting. This plaquecauses decay and gum disease.
Tartar generally located at the gum line (supragingival), could also enter the gapbetween the teeth and gums (subgingival). Usually like white coral-yellow to yellow-green one.
The formation of tartar (dental calculus) can indeed be prevented, because basicallycalculus is plaque (dental impurities) which hardens due to mineral buildup that comes from oral fluid and food / beverage.
